About Melksham Remembers

We're a group of volunteers who are intested in learning more about the social history of the Melksham area.

Through our research, we've been able to remember and share events, people and places -- the remarkable stories that time would otherwise cause us to forget.

If you have ever enjoyed solving puzzles, reading murder mysteries, watching detective shows, or if you have ever researched your family tree (or wanted to), or want to learn more about the house you live in, then you would be among kindred spirits by joining us for research, discussions and mystery solving.

Even if you can't be a part of the group, we are always seeking mystery challenges, so send us your questions!

Our Projects

Our first project was the study of Melksham and surrounding villages during WWI. This was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Melksham Area Board and Melksham Town Council, as well as The Well House Collection. The year-long research culminated in a three-day exhibition in November 2018 at the Town Hall, and toured various local village halls. This commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the Armistice.
